Patrick (Paddy) McCarthy was born in Garrydoolis,Templebredon, Co. Limerick on the 23rd Oct 1913. He was the second youngest of ten children born to John McCarthy 1873-1950 & Ellen Hayes 1873-1964, who are recorded at nearby memorial 0097.

Paddy married Josephine P ( Resa ) O'Shea 1921- 1982, daughter of Philip O'Shea 1895-1946 & Sarah ( Sadie ) Ryan 1896-1978 of adjacent memorial 0096 in Templeberdon RC, Co. Limerick on the 30th Aug 1939. Resa O'Shea was born on the 11th Mar 1921.

Paddy McCarthy 1913-1974 & Resa O'Shea 1921-1982 had a family of nine boys & six girls, including Ellen  McCarthy 1940-1944, Gerard 1954-1954 & Larry 1962-2007, who is recorded at nearby memorial 0094.
