Joe Shanahan 1899-1975, son of John Shanahan and grandson of Michael & Ann Shanahan of Tiermanagh, Templebredon, Co. Limerick, married Bridget Loughman 1900-1967, daughter of Michael Loughman & Bridget Greene of Lacka More, Doon, Co. Limerick on the 30th Oct 1923 in Doon RC, Co. Limerick.
Their daughter, who died, aged three and a half years on the 24th Sep 1945 was called Anne.
Bridget Shanahan, nee Loughman was born 21st Dec 1900 and died at Garranmore, Pallasgreen, Co. Limerick on the 7th Dec 1967, a forthnight before her 67th birthday.
Her son, William (Willie) Shanahan ,1936-2024, died on Aug 18th 2024 and was interred in nearby Old Pallas cemetery on Wed Aug 21st. His obituary reads as follows :
Willie Shanahan of Garranmore, Pallasgreen, Co. Limerick died peacefully in St. John’s Hospital, Limerick on Aug 18th 2024. Predeceased by his parents Joe and Bridget, his sisters May and Kitty and his brothers Paddy, Mikie, Wally and Timmy.
Sadly missed by his loving wife Anne, daughters Bridget, Eimear and Ruth, sons Patrick, Joseph and Aidan, sisters Bridget and Teresa, brother Joseph, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren Amy, Jake, Joe, Eve, Ciara, Ruairi, Aoibhinn, Dion, Millie, Will, Faye, Ava, Robyn and Leon, great granddaughter Amaya, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at Ryan & Whites Funeral Home Pallasgreen, Co. Limerick on Tuesday evening 20th August from 5.30 pm until 7.30 pm. Arriving in St. John the Baptist Church Nicker, Co. Limerick on Wednesday morning for Requiem Mass at 11.30 am with burial afterwards in Old Pallas Cemetery, Co. Limerick
