MATHEW WAR NER DIED IVLY 19 1741
This fragment of a gravestone used to be opposite the oil tank (outside the South Transept) but it was brought inside in 1990 and is now preserved on the top of the Lynch tomb in the South Transept. The top of the stone is rounded. An oval skull in die shape of a mask and crossbones are carved over the Ins.. The Ins. is in low false relief and quite worn. It is possible that this is Fleetwood Berry's (1912 A) No. 6(L) which also has a skull and crossbones and for which he gives the following inscription "Mathew Carver died JVLY 23rd 1721"? See also Nos. 388 and 6(L) for other Warner monuments.
