A R.S. which has been reset as paving in the Lynch Aisle. Inc'd. Ins.. The edge of the stone has been damaged and cut down due to its reuse. The surface of the bottom of die stone has been partly chiselled away. The top of the stone has been roughly retooled as was a section of the lower end of the stone. There are also some traces of mortar on the stone. Practice makes perfect! The top of this inscription was obviously a trial run. The mason achieved more exacting standards with the help of numerous lightly incised guide-lines which he laid out to help him to cut the rest of this inscription. (Cat. No. 377).
