Fleetwood Berry (1912 A), 10. Hardiman (1820), 227 lists Robert O'Hara as sheriff in 1775. Cat. No. 299. This headstone is now set in the floor of the church. It bears one of the latest instances of a display of vocational symbols in the church; those of a mason. Drawing by Majella Brien. Cat. No. 300. This sort of false relief lettering, using Roman Capitals, and with the breaks between the words divided by small lozenge-shaped, or circular stops, is typical of the later 17th, and most especially of the 18th century inscriptions in the church. Note the joining of letters so that they share common uprights and cross bars. Drawing by Majella Brien.

Surname:
O'HARA
Notes:

This is part of the top of a large slab which has been cut down for use as paving. Neatly Inc'd. Ins. within a border of conjoined lozenges. A broad plain incised line runs down the side of the stone. Part of the decoration on the right hand side is now absent and the stone has also been shortened. The upper right hand comer has been broken and repaired in modem times. Much of the surface has been lightly tooled over with a broad-bladed chisel. See also Nos. 25, 349, 374 and 399 for other O'Hara monuments.
