The first sentence which says "To the undying memory of the Glorious Dead from this Parish who fell in the Great War" runs around the chamfered edge of the cross-base. This is in pseudo- Gothic script. The monument is a pseudo-Celtic cross decorated on the front with panels of interlace, zoomorphic interlace and spirals. May 6th. (1916). Galway Vestry Meeting - The Late Captian Berry. The meeting expressed its sympathy with the Rector and Mrs. Berry at the loss of their son. "It was proposed by Mr. Lawson and seconded by Mr. Hill that a Roll of Honour be errected in the church and that the matter be referred to the Select Vestry for consideration and approval". A limited edition of a book entitled In loving Memory of Edward Fleetwood Berry MC. Capt. and Adit. 1/9th Gurkha Rifles was printed in Galway in memory of Captain Berry in 1916.
