"Died, Buttery; July 9th at Eyre Square Galway after a short illness, Mary Anne, the beloved wife of Mr. William Buttery, late Secretary of the County Galway Club". Bur. Reed. Vol. 2 (1887), "William Buttery, Sergeant in His Majestys 15th Regt of Foot was interred in the church yard of St. Nicholas Galway this 6th day of January 1887". A wall monument of the same form as No. 283, but without a motto scroll. The lozenge-shaped plaque is of white marble, the backing plaque is of black limestone. The words "FRANKLIN MARBLE WORKS" and "GALWAY" occur at the base of the backing plaque. The actual burial place is in the graveyard. (See No. 141)
