The Galwav Express. March 12th. (1864). Obituary. "On Saturday evening, the 5th inst., of consumption at his residence College Road, Captain Me Intyre, of the steamer "Pilot", aged 38 years. Deceased arrived in Galway about six years ago, and was for some time in command of the steamer "Vesper". Subsequently he became captain of the Atlantic Company's steamer "Rover" and filled the situation until the suspension of the mail service, when he became part owner of the steamer "Pilot", and was appointed to command her... We believe his numerous friends and acquaintances intend to place a gravestone over his remains, and although a subscription list for this purpose was opened only a day or so ago, the sum required has been all but subscribed".
