A large R.S. with an Inc'd. Ins. some of which is in Italics. This stone is badly cracked and flaking. There is a narrow incised border around the slab. The last three lines are from 1 Thessalonians, Chapter 4, Verse 14. See also No. 289, a plaque in the church which commemorates the same person. Bur. Reed. Vol. 2 (1852), "Lieut. Col. G.L. Davis C.B., Inspecting Field Officer of the Liverpool District, late of H.M. 9th Foot, abode Newtown Smith, Galway, buried 17th April 1852, aged 61 years".
