However, correspondence received from Rooney descendants in USA, suggest that this memorial fits their family tree research as a piece of paper in their family stated 'Ellen Rooney, Kilbegley Cemetery, Moore Parish, Pat and Stephen Ward'. It is possible that Thomas Rooney erected this headstone to his young wife before he left Ireland for a journey that took him to Quebec, Canada.
