He fell victim to fever
Caught in his too active  ****
as inspecting officer of
relief committees 4th April 1847
aged 34 years
As he lived so he died Beloved
by a numerous circle of friends
This stone is Erected by his 
sorrowing widdow and children
as a slight tribute of their love
Come unto me all ye that labour
and are heavy burden and I will
give you rest        11 Matt 25 verse
