Rev. Patrick J. Magner C.C. had been C.C. for a period in the Parish of Knockavilla and Innishannon and was a brother of Canon Thomas Magner P.P., Dunmanway who was killed by the Auxiliaries along with Tadhg O Crowley Behagullane 1 mile to the East of Dunmanway in December 1920 during the War of Independance. They were from the Ovens branch of the Magner family. They were nephews of Rev. William Magner C.C. who died in this parish in 1854 and they were cousins of Rev. John Magner C.C. who is buried in the adjoining grave.
