These Downeys lived just below Conahy Church. They were known as the "Downey Nicky's" 
Thomas Downey had an earlier son Nicholas Baptised 23/4/1858. Catherine was Christened Kate, there was also a Mary & Joseph and twins Annie and Joanna. The only one to survive into adulthood was John, or "Jack Thomas" as he was known, was Baptised 30/7/1861. He wasn't married. The land was acquired by his 1st cousin James Downey, Nicky, Lower Conahy. The hill at Conahy Church was known in 20th Century as Jack Thomas' Hill. 
Thomas' wife Margaret, was a Dunphy, believed from Cullohill.
