Death notice of William Varian in Irish Examiner, 13 May 1912 (Grave memorial gives year of death as 1897). At the monthly meeting of Cork District Lunatic Asylum management committee, Dr J.J. Fitzgerald reported the death of William Varian, mason, describing him as 'an old and faithful official'. Steps were to be taken to fill the vacancy, and it was decided to keep on his son, as employed in the institution since William Varian's illness (Source: Irish Examiner, 21 May 1912)
