Shankill is an early ecclesiastical site (RO016-123001-), Senchell Dumaige, where St Patrick founded a church at the mound of Uí Oilealla for Ródán. It is also probably the site of the parish church of Shankill. A fragment of the church was recorded in 1837 but nothing of the church now survives. The graveyard is defined by masonry walls. A ballaun stone (RO016-123003-) was recorded in the graveyard. (www.archaeology.ie)
Lecture on recent excavations adjacent to Shankill graveyard. Dr. Ros Ó'Maoldúin as he talks us through an illustrated presentation entitled 'The excavation of a multiperiod site at Shankill'.
