The graveyard is on a steep-sloped esker ridge in Portlaoise town (formerly Maryborough).
Graveyard contains no upstanding structures. Local tradition of a church in the vicinity but no visible trace exists.
Graveyard contains 18th to 19th century headstones in varying styles; rounded, recumbent, celtic style and table tombs. Headstones in fair condition; some leaning, damaged and in fragments.
Graveyard has irregular shape; stone wall boundary intact with pedestrian swing gate. An informal path leads up to the summit of ridge passing headstones precariously placed into the side of the ridge; Access from roadside. Ground steeply sloping up to top of ridge which is uneven. Wasteland on the north side; evidence for casual drinking on the site. Grass cut fairly regularly.
