The graveyard is located in the Cistercian Abbey (GA058-004001-) near Abbeyknockmoy village overlooking the Abbert River. It is a National Monument. The Abbey was founded in the late 12th century by Cathal Crobdery O'Connor. The remains consist of a large conserved Transitional style church of early 13th century date. A field system and three holy wells are associated with the site.
