Notes:

Headstone is  cast concrete and hand made and carved by Edward (Ned) Bannister of Glenmacnass as a  memorial for his wife Annie.  Wicklow County Council refused permission for the headstone to be erected on the grave as it wasn't of the 'usual' type.  Following representations from Councillor Roger Miley of Laragh, the decision was reversed, and this touching memorial is now recorded for posterity. Annie (nee Doyle) was 72 years of age when she died. Ned Bannister himself was also buried here on 13th November 1973 aged 75 years.  Roger Miley died in 1987 and is buried close by in grave number K0231. (Thanks to John Holden, Glendalough for the background to this stone and for researching the County Council burial records.)
