THE ADDRESS FOR THIS GRAVE IS CLONBURREN. THIS FAMILY FIRST LIVED IN TULLY IN THE 1660's. THERE IS A FIELD IN TULLY STILL KNOWN AS "KNIGHT'S PARK". HOWEVER SINCE 1726 THE KNIGHTS LIVED IN CLONBURREN BUT IT SEEMS THEY HELD MOST OF THEIR LANDS AS FEE SIMPLE FROM THE LANDLORD GEERING. WHEN ROBERT KNIGHT DIED IN 1829 HE WAS SUCCEEDED BY HIS SON JAMES WHO WAS ON THE GRAND JURY FOR CO . ROSCOMMON IN 1836. ROBERT WENT TO DUBLIN TO WORK IN 1848 AND IN 1850 WENT TO AUSTRALIA AND A SHORT TIME LATER HE WAS JOINED BY HIS SISTER MARGARET AND HIS JOHN. WHEN THE KNIGHTS WERE EVICTED FROM CLONBURREN BY MR MATHERS THEY WENT TO CLONFAD AND STAYED IN A HOUSE BELONGING TO MR POTTS AND FROM THERE THEY WENT TO AUSTRALIA. THERE IS A SAYING LOCALLY SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN SAID BY LANDLORD MR MATHER FROM FALTY "INCLUDED IN MY EVICTIONS WERE DAY, KNIGHT, MORNING, BLACK AND GREEN, SHARPE AND BLUNT".
