George Thomas Appelbe was the third surviving son of Edward Appelbe and Sarah Thomas.  He married his cousin Annie Mary, the only surviving child of Alexander Appelbe and Anne Marlow who was born  in Secunderabad, Tamil Nadu, India as her father was serving with the 62 foot. (Annie Mary's grave is also in this cemetery)

George Thomas trained as an engineer and was a county surveyor as well as running a local business.  His father's occupation was described as corn merchant and shop keeper so he may have kept this business going. Their son Edward trained as a doctor and moved to Brecon, Wales in about 1880.  A daughter Sarah married Denis Rice Wade, a bank officer and moved to live in Mitchelstown.  Anna and Isabella who were buried in this plot did not marry.

George had a brother Benjamin, a Customs Officer, and a brother Edward who was land agent to the Earl of Bandon. a brother Alexander, a Clerk with the Revenue, and John, a County Surveyor
