Alexander married Dora Christina Hayes on 14th October 1869 at Farahy, Cork.  She was the daughter of Rev Richard Hayes who was married to Mary Jenkins.  Rev Richard Hayes lived at Myshells House, Bandon.  Dora had brothers and sisters namely:-
