The 1911 Census states that a Richard Collins, 54, was living on a farm in Lissardagh with his wife Ellen, 34, son Denis, 14, son Richard, 13, son John, 9, daughter Margaret, 7, daughter Ellen, 4, son William, 2. His wife Ellen was nee Wall from Lissarda. They had two more children born after 1911, Donal, buried in grave No. 47, and Sheila who married Flor O'Riordan, Carrigaline. Sheila was buried in Douglas Graveyard iln 2004. John, who lived in Monallig, is buried in Coachford Graveyard with his wife Mary nee O'Riordan. Ellen, who was married to Dan O'Shea, Lehenagh, is buried in grave 46.
In Griffith's Valuation, 1852, the farm is recorded as being occupied by Denis Collins, father of Richard, who was married to Margaret Driscoll on 11th Feb. 1844. The marriage was in Kilmurry parish and they lived at Springhill. Denis came from West Cork and apart from Richard his family may not be buried in Canovee.
Richard went to America and came home in 1900 and bought the farms in neighbouring Shandangan andĀ inĀ Monallig, where his sisters Kate and Mary lived according to the 1911 census.
