In Griffith's Valuation (1852) a probable descendant of the man commemorated on this headstone, Charles Manning, is listed as leasing a house, offices and land in Coolgarriff valued at £83.15.0.
In the 1833 Tithe Applotment Books a Charles Manning of Coolgarriff holds 186 Irish acres. Colgarriff is in Aghinagh Parish.
A death notice in the Cork Examiner states that on 24th December, 1899, a John Manning, Green Lodge, Coachford died and was buried in Canovee. In the 1875 Postal Directory a John Manning is listed as living in Monareagh, Coachford.
An item available on the internet is 'Mammy' - the Eulogy at the funeral of Eileen Tobin (1909--2003). It states that Eileen was born in Ballinagree and was buried in Cardiff. Her father Timothy Manning's great grandfather Charles Manning was buried in this grave.
