The Kilmurry Parish Church Records record the baptism of Joan Spillane on 18th March, 1834. Her parents were recorded as Maurice Spillane and Nancy Mahony from Carrigadrish (probably Killinardrish). Also on the register were John Spillane, 8th May, 1836, Killinardrish, parents Maurice Spillane and Anne Mahony; Nancy Spillane, 25th August, 1838, Killinardrish, parents Maurice Spillane and Nancy Mahony; Mary Spillane, 22nd Feb., 1841, parents Maurice Spillane and Anne Mahony; Catherine Spillane, 4th June, 1843, parents Maurice Spillane and Anne Mahony; Julia Spillane, 18th March, 1846, parents Maurice Spillane and Anne Mahony. The third person commemorated on the headstone, Timothy Spillane, was baptised on 15th Jan., 1832. His parents are recorded as Maue (Maurice) Spillane and Cate Murphy. Cate may be a first wife of Maurice. Maurice Spillane had a forge in Killinardrish across the road from Nell Dinans, near the Grotto.
More recent buriels in this grave were Dan Spillane, Carrigrohane, born in Leades, died 6th Aprill 1973, and his wife Hannah who died 17th Sept. 1952. Information from Dan's grandson, Dan Spillane Coachford.
