Colonel Commandant of the Royal Horse Artillery
Governor of Fort Charles Jamica and a Privy Councillor,
He held the distinguished and confidential office of
Clerk Marshal, Private Secretary and Privy Purse
To H.R.H. The Prince of Wales , afterwards King George the 4th .
He was for nine years Envoy Extraordinary
and Minister Plempotentiary to the Court of Sweden
And subsequently Commandant at Woolwich.
He was born 13th April 1768
And died beloved and lamented 15th August 1846.
With loyalty and Patriotism unbounded
saved by his allegiance to the King of Kings.
He devoted himself through life to the Public Welfare
“Not slothful in Business but fervent in Spirit serving the Lord”.
In him was found that wisdom from above which is first pure
Then peacable, gentle, easy to be entreated full of mercy,
and good fruits without partiality and without hypocrisy,
And to the praise of God be it recorded.
“that in the midst of prosperity and worldly honours
Which he ever acknowledged with heartful gratitude
HIs glorying was in the cross of Christ Jesus His Saviour
“Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord”
